SHA Wellness Clinic: five awards for longevity and wellness
SHA Wellness Clinic collected five distinctions at the World Spa Awards 2025, spread across its two destinations. SHA Mexico was named World's Best Longevity Programme, Latin America's Best Wellness Retreat and Mexico's Best Wellness Retreat; SHA Spain took World's Best Wellness Clinic and Spain's Best Wellness Retreat. The awards came two years after SHA Mexico opened and after nearly two decades of SHA Spain on the Mediterranean coast.
Five awards, two destinations
For a portal about healthy years, one of the five titles stands out: World's Best Longevity Programme went to SHA Mexico, the younger of the two houses, set among tropical landscape on the Caribbean coast. SHA Spain, the original house on the Mediterranean, was named World's Best Wellness Clinic. According to the list of honours that SHA Wellness Clinic keeps, it is the fourth year in a row for that title, after 2022, 2023 and 2024.
The clinic counts almost a hundred international awards in total. In 2024 SHA Mexico was named World's Best New Wellness Retreat, and at the Luxury Spa Edit Awards 2025 the two houses won Best Global Wellness Retreat (SHA Spain) and Best Spa Mexico Retreat (SHA Mexico).
What the SHA Method combines
SHA describes its approach as the integration of scientific and natural medicine in one method. The SHA Method brings together state-of-the-art diagnostics, preventive and precision medicine, evidence-based lifestyle programmes and holistic therapies, designed and guided by an international multidisciplinary team. Every first stay includes a health programme.
At SHA Spain the medical team is organised in units, each with its own lead: internal and longevity medicine, hormones, revitalising medicine, nutrition, dermo-aesthetics, neurophysiology, sleep, functional medicine, clinical psychology and physiotherapy. Dr. Mariel Silva directs the medical services, and the internal and longevity specialist is Dr. Vicente Mera.
Inside the longevity programme
The Advanced Longevity programme can be booked from 4 nights. According to SHA it targets the core drivers of ageing at cellular and systemic level: advanced diagnostics and functional medicine come first, followed by precision nutrition, regenerative therapies, metabolic optimisation and changes to daily habits. The stated aims are better mitochondrial function, less oxidative stress and more resilience. Up to two additional packs, for example for sleep or gut health, can be added to a programme.
Guests, SHA says, often describe a profound change within a few days: more energy, restorative sleep, a clearer head, less inflammation and visible changes in body composition. The clinic puts more weight on what follows the stay: tools and habits that guests take home and keep using.
What awards can and cannot tell you
An award says something about the reputation of a house and about the experience it delivers. It is not a clinical trial, and the effects SHA lists are reports from guests, not measured results. If you are considering a medical programme abroad, ask which diagnostics are included, who interprets them and what happens to your results after you leave.
The habits that decide most healthy years are the same at home: movement, food, sleep, connection and time outside. Our guides on healthspan versus lifespan, on the longest-lived regions and on how long a habit takes show what that looks like in numbers.
